Help us send Ruby to Belize!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Melissa. Rubys Mom. Russ and I decided to make this to see if friends and family would be to help us see Ruby off to Belize!

Ruby started high school this year! She has an incredible volunteer resume, she's an active member of 4H, she has found a passion for arts and theater, and has managed to maintain high honors along the way.

In Sept Ruby applied to her schools travel & scholarship program. Ruby was thrilled when she accepted into the program! I think she shocked alot of people when they choose a freshman for the scholarship, this has not happened in a very long time. They were beyond impressed by her resume and excited for her to represent there school abroad!

The total for the trip is $3,600

Her scholarship only covers some of this cost. We understand alot of people are in a tough spot right now but every little bit helps and even a share may get us closer to her goal.

Student's will be immersed in an ancient Mayan fishing village where locals still make their living from the richness of the Belize Barrier Reef. In preparation for this experience, students will explore topics in economic development and the village's slow transition to sustainable eco-tourism, regional history, and coastal conservation. Students will snorkel in the turquoise water, river tube and zipline through the rainforest, and wander through 2,000 year old Mayan temples. Our service work will focus around the restoration of mangroves and work with sea turtles and Antillean manatees.
