Help Us Show Susie King Taylor's Story on Stage

History Theatre is a nonprofit community theatre in Savannah, Georgia dedicated to presenting to visitors to our city the honest and healing stories that should not be forgotten. Our first production, opening in May 2022, is based on the Civil War memoir of Susie King Taylor, who escaped from slavery in Savannah at age 13 to become an educator, nurse, author and social justice warrior. Susie King Taylor: "What a Wonderful Revolution!" is a major theatrical production featuring over 50 characters in 21 scenes, and spanning Taylor's life from youth to middle age. Millions of people come to Savannah each year and now more than ever before, many of them are seeking out the "unwhitewashed" history of the town, and Taylor's incredible journey through life is a prime example. To get the show up and running--and we plan to present it for a long time to come--we need to raise at least $40,000 to pay for renting a venue, building sets, buying lighting and sound equipment and props, making costumes, and paying the cast and crew. Won't you help us tell Susie King Taylor's story? Please donate today to ensure that this show will go on!
