Help Us Shuttle Ukrainian Refugees To Safety
Donation protected
Who are we? We are not a big organization right now, just a few guys trying to do what we can for our brothers and sisters at the Ukrainian border.
What's going on? The U.N. estimates that, in only 4 days, nearly half a million Ukrainians have been forced out of their homes by the invading Russian forces. As many as 3.5 million more are expected in the coming weeks.
Where will we take them? We are coordinating with a beautiful non-profit academy with space and accommodations for around 60 people. This non-profit education center (known as the Cumorah Academy) is near Prague, Czech Republic. We hope to transport as many refugees to this center as it can accommodate before moving on to other reception centers that will be opening in the coming days and weeks. We currently have contacts in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine who are helping to direct our efforts to those most in need.
How will it work? We have set a plan in motion to personally pay for transport to-and-from the Czech Republic as well as renting vehicles to make the border run as many times as we can. Depending on the evolving situation, and considering the distance with stops for fuel and food, we anticipate being able to do one run a day.
What do we need? Our personal resources are limited. With additional funding we could expand our transport capabilities, starting with the individual vehicles we rent. For example: With approx. $270 ($90/vehicle) a day, we could double our load capacity. This would allow us to shuttle an additional 100+ individuals over the course of 10 days. The more space we can afford, the more people we can get to safety.
Additional funds are needed to fill our vehicles with food, water, hygiene supplies and cold weather gear to take back with us for those who are still stranded at the border. We'd also like to cover the cost of a meal or two for our passengers, water, bathrooms (some rest-stop bathrooms in Europe charge a small entry fee), and tolls for more direct travel. Every penny we receive will be used with the upmost dignity and respect.
What's Our Plan for the Future? We are in close contact with several tour bus agencies and faith groups throughout Europe. If this fundraiser is able to grow in the way we envision, we will charter as many of these busses and drivers as we can, to transport an ever growing number of refugees to warmer, safer quarters.
Our goal is to get as many people as possible away from the border and to safety.
We are very much aware of the changing situation and will adjust our approach as time passes.
Please help us help them.
