3 days ago the biggest flood in Lismore since records began hit and destroyed our home
I took this picture from a boat as we searched for people to rescue.. It shows our house. the water was still rising
The Authorities got the level of flood warning and the timing wrong..they predicted a level that would not have reached the floor of our Queenslander Style house, so before we left we put our valuables in the roof and left our belongings in the house ..but the Flood that came was 6 meters higher than predicted and the house probably fully submerged
we lost everything except our vehicles
Naomi lost all her clothes….our appliances and furniture were submerged in muddy water and have banged around in the house smashing holes in the walls and ceiling
we visited the house today and our stuff is totally destroyed and the house is full of mud
we have yet to find out if our home is safe to move back into, if it is we plan to clean it out and stay.
The Government has promised us 1000 bux each but this just isn’t going to cover fixing our home or moving and starting again if it turns out unsafe
..we are very aware we are lucky to have just lost just our belongings ..People have without doubt lost their lives.. at least one in our street
We are very worried about the future
If you can donate or share we would appreciate it. .. please do not give more than you can spare
