Help Us Spread Jon Box's Ashes

Donation protected
Anyone who knew Jon Box knew he was a promoter, an artist, and most of all a friend. You always knew when he walked into the room because the energy shifted. You heard that laugh and everyone immediately smiled because Jon was there.

He helped anyone who asked and a lot of people who didn't, in secret. Just because he knew they needed it but were too proud to ask. He lived with congestive heart failure and only had 9% heart function. He went from being secure in his life to the complete opposite on the drop of a dime. Regardless, he pushed himself to live his life to the fullest with absolutely no regrets. He lived every day like it was going to be his last one. No matter how much he was hurting, out of breath, or just too sick to be there, he always had a laugh, a kind word, and unspoken support for everyone.

He was one of those special people who had a gift and a light. He could talk to everyone- from people who live on the street to the mayor, and everyone felt heard, seen, acknowledged, and recognized. He could identify with people whether it was through an anecdote about his former military service or his former life working with a Fortune 500 company. He touched everyone he came across.

He worked hard to provide for his family. Even ill. He fiercely loved, honored and protected his wife and their doggy child. His world literally revolved around them, his business/community , and his art. He could have stayed home and wallowed in pity. Bemoaned his fate and life circumstances. But he made the conscious choice to live out loud. He painted murals for restaurants and businesses, reinvented and retooled his own businesses during the pandemic, and made a difference wherever he could. All of our lives are better for having had him in it. He was larger than life. We are all going to miss him.

Jon touched the lives of so many - please help us celebrate his life by helping Makayla and his family cover the expenses for his final resting place in the Philippines as it’s his wish to be brought home to his mom.

Thank you for reading Jon's story and for showing your support for one of Erie's dopest artists.
