A Call to Support Babes Golf

Update June 2024
Update for all of our supporters. Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped spread awareness. Unfortunately, we must share that we have not yet reached our initial fundraising goal. We find ourselves facing even greater challenges as the same party has initiated a second lawsuit. This new legal battle brings with it additional expenses, further straining our resources.
The impact of the lawsuit has extended beyond our legal battles. It has significantly disrupted our day-to-day operations, making it increasingly challenging to run our business smoothly. Our focus has been consumed by this ongoing struggle, affecting every aspect of our operations.
Furthermore, our partners and golf courses have also been apprehensive about hosting events, fearing that they may face similar challenges. This reluctance has further compounded our difficulties in organizing gatherings and activities for our community.
Your contributions are not only crucial in covering the costs of our ongoing legal battles but also in keeping our community alive.
In addition to our ongoing GoFundMe campaign, we are actively seeking support from any golf facilities or coaches who are passionate about supporting women in golf and fostering a welcoming and inclusive community, we encourage you to reach out to us. Your assistance in spreading the word and facilitating these connections will play a vital role in keeping our mission alive.
Thank you for your ongoing support for Babes Golf.
*Help Us Stand Against a Lawsuit and Raise Awareness for Justice*
Dear Friends, Supporters, and Advocates,
We find ourselves facing an ongoing legal battle against a pattern of lawsuits filed by an individual with a history of targeting businesses and individuals. We are reaching out to you today not only for financial support for our legal fees but also to raise awareness about the systemic issue of frivolous litigation. See the numerous articles at the bottom of this page to read about the other lawsuits.
Unfortunately, we are currently facing legal scrutiny from this individual who, as evidenced by the attached articles, has a concerning history of targeting businesses, particularly within businesses and events designed for the purpose of promoting equality for women in areas where they are traditionally underrepresented or subject to discrimination themselves.
The Impact on Our Small Business:
The toll of this ongoing legal battle has been immense. The countless hours spent dealing with legal matters, the financial strain from legal fees, and the stress it has added to our small business, Babes Golf, which strives to do good in our community, is immeasurable. This unfortunate lawsuit has not only drained our resources but diverted our focus from the positive impact we aim to make.
Babes Golf Mission:
Babes Golf is not just a small business; it is a passion project dedicated to fostering inclusivity and empowerment for women in the world of golf. Our mission is to continue to grow and create a supportive community, a safe space for golf enthusiasts to come together, build connections, and share their love for the game. Without your help, we face the real possibility of being unable to operate and continue our vital mission for women's golf.
Background:
This individual has a documented history of filing lawsuits against a variety of establishments, including golf courses, bars, restaurants, and events specifically designed to celebrate and empower women (more than 40 cases in the last 15 years). The attached articles provide a detailed account of the numerous instances where businesses and individuals have been, in our view, unfairly subjected to legal scrutiny. One disturbing pattern we've observed is that he sends the same email to each establishment, asking, "Ladies only, or can guys also join in?" We believe that this tactic appears to be an attempt to cause harm to groups designed to promote the empowerment of women, by using the Unruh Act for their personal enrichment. We are committed to exposing this misuse of legal processes and shedding light on the broader issue.
Our legal journey is unpredictable, and we cannot determine a specific financial goal at this time due to the ongoing nature of the situation. Every contribution, regardless of size, will directly support our ability to defend ourselves against what appears to be a misuse of the legal system and contribute to raising awareness about this pervasive issue.
Here's how you can help:
1. Donate: Your financial support will go towards our legal expenses, helping us fight against what seems to be a frivolous lawsuit and standing up against the misuse of the legal system.
2. Share: Spread the word about this campaign by sharing it with your friends, family, and social networks. Your support in raising awareness is crucial to building a community of advocates against frivolous lawsuits.
3. Encourage: Your words of encouragement and belief in justice will bolster our spirits as we navigate through this challenging legal battle.
We are committed to transparency and will keep you updated on the progress of our legal journey. By supporting us, you are not only assisting in our defense but also contributing to the broader conversation about the need for legal reform to prevent the abuse of the legal system.
Thank you for standing with us and helping us fight for justice and equality.
Sincerely,
Babes Golf
Alex Andersen and the entire Babes Golf Team

"Interestingly, California does allow certain types of promotions where the intent is for gift purposes. In dismissing a case similar to the Frye cases related to a Mother’s Day promotion at a baseball game, a California court seemed to indicate that not all discrimination cases are created equal, stating that “it is imperative we not denigrate [the Unruh Act’s] power and efficacy by applying it to manufactured injuries.” California also offers examples for how businesses may still offer promotional discounts, such as offering reduced prices to all customers one day of the week or offering discounts to any customer who meets a condition that anyone could meet (presenting a coupon, wearing a specific color, etc.)."
