Help Jeff Fogg Strike Leukemia Out!
Donation protected
Jeff Fogg has Leukemia. He is self-employed and does have health insurance but there will be additional out of pocket expenses and a 4-month loss of income that will need to be supplemented. That is where we can all assist! #44 needs our help. He is on first base and needs his team to get him around the bases and across home plate. Jeff has been a dedicated Son, Father, Brother, Husband and Friend to all and now is the opportunity to give back. We are reaching out to all to better position #44 for a speedy and successful recovery without the burden of financial concerns. Please join the lineup and let’s get Jeff across home plate with whatever you can donate!
Jeff will be admitted to Stanford hospital in Palo Alto, CA on November 5th to begin preparations for the transplant. He is scheduled to receive the bone marrow transplant on November 10th and will continue inpatient therapy for a few weeks. After that, Jeff will need to stay within 30 minutes transport to the hospital for a couple of months. We will have a Caringbridge site in place to provide updates.
Backstory:
Jeff started feeling overly tired when trying to do his day-to-day routine. After several doctors visits and tests, Jeff was diagnosed with Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML), which is a type of cancer that starts in blood-forming cells of the bone marrow and invades the blood. He also has a mutant aggressive component that makes his case more urgent. The last few months have been a whirlwind of worrying and planning for the upcoming treatment. Finally, this last week, he was matched with a donor and will be preparing for a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in the next couple of months. Treatment is scheduled at Stanford Hospital (Palo Alto, CA) to begin in the next 6-8 weeks as follows: This starts with 1 week of very intense chemo treatment, leading up to his BMT procedure, then 3 weeks of recovery care in the Stanford Hospital.
...This is where Jeff needs our help!!
After this initial 4 weeks of treatment at Stanford Hospital, Jeff is required to stay within 30 minutes of the Stanford Hospital for the next 3 months and has limited insurance to cover all his living expenses. Jeff will need to secure housing near Palo Alto (his insurance allocates some funds for housing, but it’s not enough). Further, there is the potential of hiring of a caregiver as he recovers from this intense procedure; some of this can be covered by family, but additional caregiver services may need to be hired to give more advanced care. There will also be countless meals that will be needed over the course of the treatment.
We are anticipating Jeff’s additional living expenses will be around $7K/month and planning for 3 months stay in the Palo Alto area plus the initial 4 weeks of treatment; we’ve established a target of raising $25K via Go-Fund-Me to assist Jeff in this endeavor!
Jeff runs a very successful painting company (hampered in recent months due to Jeff’s limited and declining health) and will not be able to run his crew during this 4-month timeframe. We want to do what we can to make sure his business continues to run and grow while he is away so when he is better, he still has a business and source of income.
Jeff has always been there for everyone in his life. His family and friends are everything to him and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for any of them. He needs our help now. Whatever you can do to help is greatly appreciated! Your time, prayers and donations will go to help a wonderful guy STRIKE OUT leukemia!!
