Help us raise funds for NICU Holles St hospital

Zarah, our beautiful daughter, was born on 28th April 2021, 7 weeks early. Unfortunately, she did not do well following her delivery; she was intubated and placed on a ventilator in the intensive care unit. Our little girl was in a critical condition and battling for her life. A team of consultants came from Holles Street Children's Hospital to transport her to Dublin for more advanced care; in the middle of the transfer, both Zarah's lungs collapsed; thankfully the team of Doctors and Nurses saved her life due to their quick decision making, care, and professionalism.

Once we arrived at Holles Street Hospital, Zarah was treated with the utmost care. It was difficult to suddenly be transported from Galway to Dublin; we are so grateful to the team who arranged for us to stay in Hughs's family house, close to our baby girl while she was in intensive care and in recovery. It is only when you are in that situation do you learn about the resources available to assist families cope. Both Dave and I are grateful for the tremendous support we received from the entire staff during that difficult time.

One of the most significant benefits for us as parents was being able to see Zarah 24/7 via a specialized designed Webcam; "Angel Eye Camera". We and our close family members were able to monitor her progression and have constant access to her via a live stream that was installed in the incubator. This gave us so much comfort at a time when we could not even hold our baby Zarah but thanks to this monitor we could watch her when we returned to the house at night and also her brother and sister in Galway were able to view and talk to her.

We are now in a position to give back and express our gratitude to the staff and hospital.

The live interaction cameras are a recent addition to the NICU due to Covid visiting restrictions for immediate families; they have limited cameras, as a result, we would like to help raise 3,500 euros for a new camera for the NICU unit at Holles Street Hospital, which would in turn help and benefit other parents like us.

Thankfully because of the exceptional care she received our precious girl is doing wonderful and is enjoying having fun with her brother and sister.
