Help us take “Prom Queen” to the big stage!

Hi everyone! My name is Sinead Marie Greene and I am the writer and creator of Prom Queen: A New Jukebox Musical. I started writing Prom Queen when I was eleven years old, and it has been a huge part of my life since then.

Prom Queen was officially launched on Social Medias on June 15, 2021. Prom Queen's official premiere took place in the form of a virtual concert on August 27th, 2021, where we gathered a group of 12 girls attending Killarney Community College, St. Brigid’s Secondary School and Intermediate School Killorglin. Together they sang and performed some of the best songs from Prom Queen to give everyone an idea of the show and the talent that we had. The group was organised and taught by Sorcha O’Connor, with choreography by two of her friends Jack Brosnan and Siobhan Bustin. Two articles were written and published about Prom Queen's virtual concert, one in the Kerryman Newspaper and the Killarney Advertiser.

Now we're here, a year after the official launch, and we're planning a fully staged production in Killarney on the 21st of November.

However, producing a musical costs a lot of money, which is why we're here! We hope to use the money raised from this to cover the costs of venue, choreographer, lighting, props, costumes, sound, and stage design amongst many other things.

A little more about the plot of Prom Queen:

Prom Queen is a jukebox musical, meaning it uses well known and popular songs already written to tell its story, so you are guaranteed to know most of the songs in the show! One of the most special things about Prom Queen is that every character is dealing with something. Prom Queen deals with a lot of heavy topics such as dometic violence, depression, internalised homophobia, suicide, bullying and grief. With this show, we want to educate people and shine a light on these topics. The story follows shy teen Oliver Lamb (Olly) and his best friend Krystal Parker (Krys). While Olly is hopelessly in love with schools popular girl Leah Galloway, Krys is burdened by a family tragedy kept secret for years. One day, Olly stupidly challenges the schools star and popular boy Glen Khan to see who can take Leah to Prom, and that's where our story begins.

We are so thrilled to finally be in a position to bring this to a stage in Killarney this Autumn, and are beyond excited for everyone to see it.

This is an amazing youth project supervised and coached by experienced professional adults that truly deserves your support!

Please donate to this worthy cause, every little helps! This is an extraordinary show you do not want to miss, so save the date!
