Help us Take WWII Marine Raider Liberator to Guam - Iwo Jima
Donation protected
When Corporal Frank Wright went back to Boot CampFrank Wright was born in Arkansas in 1925. He spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and as a member of the 4th Marine Raiders Special Forces with Colonel James Roosevelt as commander. He fought in four major battles (Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Guam and Iwo Jima). He was wounded while liberating Guam with a bayonet and in Iwo Jima by machine gunfire. He was married for 74 years to his beloved Katherine before she passed away in 2020. Frank lives in Lodi, California.
After so many years of being asked to visit Guam or Iwo Jima, he finally admitted that he wanted to go Guam and Iwo Jima to find the final peace he has been looking for. For most combat wounded Veterans it is always traumatic to visit the battlefields where they almost lost their lives. Corporal Wright wants to do this and he is invited by the people of Guam to be their special guest for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Guam.
Therefore, the Stockton Marine Corps Club is taking this Raider and Liberator to Guam in July of this year to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Guam. We will also take him to Iwo Jima next March, 2025 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the famed Battle at that island. Other Veterans and some of their family will accompany Frank in this significant journey. These Veterans and family have been taking him to different events to include taking him back to Marine Recruit Depot San Diego 80 years after he graduated Boot Camp; the Marine Corps Raiders reunion in Stone Bay, North Carolina; the Iwo Jima Survivors Symposium in Arlington, Virginia, and other important events. This time we are asking for your help to make these two important trips happen.
If you donate $100, you will get a ticket for a way to win a WWII Replica Combat Helmet autographed by Frank. If you donate $500, you will get 7 tickets. And if you are willing to donate $1,000, you will get 15 tickets. Pictures of the combat helmet will be posted later on.
