Help Us Tell Rosa’s Story

Howa!
My name is Donald Davis, and I am part of the team working to bring to the screen the story of Rosa Hoots, and her two-year-old colt, Black Gold. Rosa and Black Gold is based on the true story of a strong, ahead-of-her-time Native American widow, mother, and business woman. When Rosa honors her husband’s dying wish for his Thoroughbred colt, she’s forced to battle greed, racism, and betrayal on the way to winning the 50th running of the Kentucky Derby in 1924.
Rosa was Osage and lived at the time of “Killers of the Flower Moon”. The script was written by Joe Johnston, and Russ Tall Chief, who is Osage, and both are award-winning writers and authors. Black Gold’s story was told in a book written by Marguerite Henry (1957). She was an American writer of children's books, writing fifty-nine books based on true stories of horses and other animals. She won the Newbery Medal for one of her books about horses and she was a runner-up for two others. We expect the movie will be shared with public schools as well.
The funds you so generously donate will be used to create a new extended trailer for the movie, a very important step in obtaining funding for the movie production costs.
Here are our donor incentives:
Screen credit: Executive Producer – each investor at the $5,000 level - plus the opportunity to appear as an extra in the trailer, plus 20 t-shirts and a poster autographed by the principal actors and film makers.
