KOHACHI BEERWORKS SHOP & GARDEN PROJECT in KYOTO

Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
Thank you for visiting our funding page!!

We are Nobuko and Julien, a Japanese & Belgian couple living in Kyoto by the Sea, in the Kansai area of Japan.

At the beginning of 2022, we started a craft beer brewery called KOHACHI beerworks in a village called Kamiseya, located in the scenic mountainous area of northern Kyoto. It is a little village with beautiful terraced rice fields and an old-fashioned way of life in the countryside of Japan. Time flows slowly in Kamiseya. The villagers here follow the rhythm of the seasons and, through history, shape beautiful scenery.

Please visit our website: www.kohachibeer.com, for photos of our village and beer collections. Sorry, all in Japanese, but hopefully, the images will give you some ideas!

"From Earth to Beer - From Beer to Earth"

Thanks to the richness of our home region, the Tango peninsula of Kyoto, we have access to a wide variety of high-quality ingredients from neighboring farmers and businesses. Not only does this allow us to create original beers with unique flavors, but it also lowers our impact on the environment. Farmers use our spent grain to fertilize their fields, and our neighbor's goats like to eat them as well :)

Last year we renovated the warehouse part of an old Japanese farmhouse and made it a small brewery. We now sell our beer online, at events and wholesale; however, we are missing the most crucial part -- our shop & beer garden in our brewery property.

Our NEXT STEP is to open a weekend beer garden to the public on the riverside of the farmhouse brewery, where you can enjoy fresh beer directly from the taps, under the cherry blossom in spring, the refreshing river in summer and the beautiful color of the mountain in fall. In addition, we would like to create a small shop in the farmhouse where you can buy fresh draft beer and bottled beer for take-outs/souvenirs and fill your growlers.

However, our farmhouse and garden are really old, needing tons of repairs and deck work, building stairs to go down to the river... etc., to make it a safe and enjoyable beer garden. The cost of building the brewery has hit us VERY hard... and still, our farmhouse is what we call "boroboro," --old and crumbling-- in Japanese. We are taking time to do some repair work ourselves, but this will take years.

So now, we would like to ask for your help to renovate to save our farmhouse and make our next step to create a beautiful shop & garden project together!!

As a funding supporter,
  • We will paint your name on the wall of fame in the brewery -- we will call it a "Wall of CHEERS!" so every visitor can witness it.
  • You'll also be registered as a KOHACHI beerworks Founding Member and receive a special discount when you visit our brewery! More information will be sent to you by our THANK YOU email.

Please let us make our KOHACHI BEER SHOP & GARDEN project happen!
If we can do it, it is because of you!

Thank you for reading until the end :)
We will very much appreciate your help & support, and also some ideas for the project will be more than welcomed!!

Love,
Nobuko & Julien Caudron
