Help us to keep Aaron safe

We’re appealing to Aaron’s friends, family and anyone who knows Aaron as a last resort.

On Wednesday the 10th of April Aaron was travelling to Murcia Spain on a golf trip. While leaving the airport he was stopped and arrested as there was international warrant out for his arrest for an incident that occurred 7 years ago. In 2017 Aaron was stopped going into Creamfields festival and was searched. He was found with a supply small enough for his personal use over the weekend. He was arrested and was given a court date which he never returned for. We know he was wrong, he was young and scared at this time. We know he has to face the consequences for this charge however our main priority now is to keep him safe. He has no other charges or convictions here or abroad, he was due to start university in September.

The prison have not given him one phone call. We don’t know exactly where he is or if he is safe all we know he is locked up in a Spanish prison with higher grade criminals. We have been in contact with the Irish Embassy who have been no help at all. They have said they need Aaron’s consent which they can’t get because they cannot get in contact with the prison. Our only form of contact is through a Spanish solicitor which is very difficult as there is a language barrier. The solicitor is also concerned for his safety and has said the prison is too excessive and that they have little to no English.

Aaron is being held in provisional prison until an extradition date to the UK which we have been told could take up to 9 months. We have been given a deadline by Monday to pay solicitor fees, a security bond and to find accommodation with a rental contract for minimum 6-9 months for a last appeal to have him provisionally released in Murcia until his extradition date.

We’re asking for anyones help, no matter how small it may be. It could be a contact in Murcia, a place to rent, a contact in Ireland who could help, anything at all that can help us to get in contact and help us to keep him safe.
