Help Us to Rebuild Our life After Losing My Family in Gaza

Donation protected
Dear friends and kind-hearted,

My name is Ahmed Osama from Gaza, Palestine. I am 36 years old. My life was once filled with happiness and purpose, working as an English translator and living with my beloved family in Gaza. My wife, Areej, and I were blessed with four beautiful children: our seven-year-old twins Malik and Miral, our five-year-old daughter Nesma, and our youngest, three-year-old Mohammed. Our lives were simple but filled with love, stability, calmness, and tranquility.

As the intensity of the war in Gaza increased, we, like many others, sought safety. We moved to my brother-in-law’s house in Al-Nuseirat, believing it to be a safer area. My wife and children stayed there, while I stayed at my uncle’s house nearby. Every day, I visited them, bringing necessities and trying to comfort them amidst these difficult times.
One evening, I visited my family, and we shared a precious moment together, filled with warmth and affection. As I prepared to leave, They all stood by the door and bid me farewell, except for my young son Mohammed, who burst into tears and said to me, "Don't go, Daddy. I want to come with you." His innocent plea broke my heart. As I walked away, tears filled my eyes, a deep sense of foreboding gripping my heart.

Late one night on 22/10/2023, while I was at my uncle’s house, intense bombing shook the area. I frantically called and messaged my wife as usual, but received no response. My heart pounded with fear. Shortly after, a friend called to inform me that the residential block where my family was staying had been bombed. My world shattered, and I fainted.

After regaining consciousness, I rushed to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital at dawn, praying for a miracle. There, I found my worst nightmare: my three precious children, Malik, Miral, and Nesma, lifeless on the cold floor, they were martyred. My wife, Areej, was critically injured in the ICU, and my little Mohammed lay on a bed, injured but alive. Areej fought for her life for two days before she too passed away.

I buried my children with my own hands, an unimaginable pain tearing through my soul. Two days later, I buried my wife. The grief was unbearable, but I had to stay strong for Mohammed, my only surviving child. He had suffered a broken leg and head injuries but was miraculously alive.

We spent two weeks in the hospital and my son Mohammed underwent four surgeries on his left leg before being displaced for the second time to Deir al-Balah. Mohammed is now my sole focus, and I am determined to provide him with a better future. The trauma and loss we have endured are overwhelming, but I am committed to giving him a life filled with love and security.

To add to our hardship, both my house and my father's house in the north of Gaza were completely destroyed. We are now living with my parents, brother, and sister, none of us are employed. My contract ended two months before the war began. We have no source of income and are effectively homeless. Despite these dire circumstances, I am resolved to rebuild our lives for the sake of Mohammed and my remaining family. Prices are extremely high in the markets, and there is a severe shortage of food, water, and essential supplies for daily life. I cannot bear all of this, and in addition, I am also helping many of my relatives who are in desperate need, as much as I can.

I humbly ask for your support in helping Mohammed and me rebuild our lives. Your generosity can provide us with the means to start anew, to find hope and healing in the midst of this tragedy. Mohammed has lost his mother and siblings, and I have lost my entire family. Together, with your help, we can honor their memory by giving Mohammed a chance at a brighter future.
