For those who know Anne Marie Taylor Powney know she wears her caring and compassionate heart on her sleeve. No matter the situation she is always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. From gathering clothing donations for fire victims, filling up purses for women's shelters, to dropping off food and Christmas presents to others. In most cases, she is the first one people turn to for help. Anne Marie has lived in the Trent Hills area for the past 22 years with her family. She was a reporter and photographer for a local newspaper and in 2014 she started up her own freelance photography business doing personal photoshoots and many of her photos have been published in Trent Hills publications.
On January 17th 2020, she woke up in massive pain with a swollen wrist and then a few days later the swelling went to her fingers. Since then she has lost total mobility of her left hand. She also has extreme pain in her arm and is not able to lift it up, she has swelling, muscle spasms, and tremors, muscle weakness, and her skin is discoloured. She now needs help with the day to day activities like dressing herself, tying her shoes, zippers, grocery shopping, opening containers, chopping /food preparation, and housekeeping.
The doctors are still not too sure what is wrong with her, so many more tests will be required in the near future. She will be having an MRI, and a special skeletal scintigraphy scan to check for cancers etc., sent to a pain management clinic, and various other specialists in the Kingston area.
This journey has been a long and expensive one and it's not over yet. She is not able to work right now and her family doesn't have a drug or benefit program to offset these medical expenses for costly prescription meds, travel expenses to and from appts, parking, physio therapy, occupational therapy, personal support worker to help her with the day-to-day activities.
She is the glue and mortar and a friend to everyone in the community and now she needs our help. Please help if you can. Any donation helps
