Help us with Whiskey's Diabetes & Cancer Med Bills
When Sam and Daniela went to a cat rescue adoption drive in Williamsburg Brooklyn, they both had different intentions. Sam wasn't sure she wanted a pet and Daniela had a gut feeling that they would find their baby. The moment they spotted a cute little 4-month-old Tabby who was shivering in her cage, they needed to meet her and comfort the poor little scared baby whose brother and sister had already been adopted as a pair. They took her into the pet store bathroom and she melted into Daniela's chest and purred as Sam pet her and they knew that she was the one to complete their family.
She was diagnosed with Diabetes in late December 2020 and upon a hospitalization, on May 14th, 2021 we have learned that she has a cancerous tumor on her adrenal gland pressing against her kidney that has grown much larger than her kidney and is putting pressure on her kidney. The doctors believe that the tumor is the root cause of the Diabetes as it is making it harder for her to regulate her blood sugar and electrolytes. We want to provide her with the best possible care while she's hospitalized but this extended hospital stay has put us in a financial bind with her medical bills. Currently, she is stable but not healthy enough to come home yet and doctors are recommending a CT scan and possibly surgery to remove the tumor if she's healthy enough to undergo surgery (as it could allow her to go into diabetes remission). We're overwhelmed by this entire process.
Whiskey is the most photogenic 9-year-old Tabby with the worst case of FOMO we've ever seen. She loves to snuggle up in between her mommies, sit by the window while bird watching, run for treats, and tear into her rainbow catnip toys. She's sweet n' spicy with a purr like a car motor. She's been with us through the toughest periods in our lives including periods of unemployment, surgery recovery, familial loss...the many ups and downs that life brings. She's brought us endless joy, every single day of her life so far. She greets us every morning at the toilet for head scratches and drinks water out of the faucet and has considered jumping in to save us from possibly drowning in the bathtub time and time again. We love her so much.
We know that the last couple of years have been hard for so many of us, but if you can help we would be eternally grateful. If you are unable to donate at this time please feel free to share with your network and community. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time. To contribute directly outside of gofundme @Daniela-Caraballo on Venmo.
Love,
Daniela, Sam and Whiskey Caraballo-Gioia
