Help Us-Help Them- Dilley Texas

WE ARE DOING A THING- Dilley Pro Bono Project 

Natalie and I, are two family law practitioners who decide a month ago that we wanted to do something for the asylum seeking families that are subject to the immigration obstacles they are encountering at the border, when Natalie found The Dilley Project.  We researched the project, which will allow us to contribute 1 week of our time to help the families held in the Dilley Detention Center.  We have been told we will work 10 hour days for 5 days straight to hopefully make some positive impacts on a few lives. 

We leaped without really knowing where we would land; they accepted 15 applicants...so now that our applications have been accepted, we need some help; we have rearranged our court schedules  to allow us to be gone for a week, which for attorneys is unpaid vacation time, we need to get flights to San Antonio, we will need lodging for the week, a car, and our food expenses. I wish I could say, we have been planning this adventure and made the necessary financial decisions to cover our expenses.....but we truly did decide to do this about a month ago.

Joining us will be two young women, Mikell and Rashae, who will be accompanying us on this incredible journey, to help with interpretation and translation. Many of these families come from Central America, and dialects can vary from region to region so this help will be essential.
