Help Val Bounce Back!
On August 5th, 2020, our Mom Valerie and her husband Bob were on their way home on one of their motorcycles. As they were heading home on Gallatin Road, an SUV pulled out in front of them causing a traumatic collision.
They were taken to the ER, where Bob's condition was much less severe than our Mom's. She was moved into ICU where they discovered her back broken in multiple places as well as a broken tibia at the ankle, arm and tailbone. She had an extensive surgery on her back, and spent one month in the hospital and three additional months in therapy.
As a respected artist in Nashville and beyond, our Mom has already been out of work due to the impact of COVID-19 and was just about to start a job days following the wreck. (She actually had accepted the position the day of the accident.) Outside of her music, our Mom has always been a caretaker and, because of the requirements of that kind of position and the severity of her injuries, she will never work in that field again.
Due to said injuries and the services provided, she has medical bills piling up to the near 1million dollars. With the other driver's insurance policy, the potential coverage doesn't even cover 10% of what the damages actually cost - not including what costs may arise in the future.
We came up with our goal based on the following factors:
- Hospital stay costs (after insurance)
- Physical therapy required post-op
- Future doctor visits, MRIs/scans, medications, rehab
- Loss of wages
While we are so thankful for Bob's minor injuries and for our Mom being able to walk again, we know this is going to be a long road of recovery and are humbly asking for support.
Our Mom - the artist that she is, the sweet human that she is - gives herself in full in so many ways, no questions asked. She loves, loves, loves and is a friend to all. We know 2020 was a challenging year for many, and appreciate anything you can give.
