Help Valencia Finish Grad School December 2021

I am Valencia James and I attend Academy of Art University. I am currently finishing up my Masters of Fine Art in Fashion Design and on track to complete the program this Fall 2021. I am incredibly excited about finishing up and graduating with a terminal degree in this area as I come from a family of seamstresses and laundresses that have a connect to Fibers. With that being sad I have been under immense amounts of stress and pressure in the last few months. I lost my grandmother suddenly in August 2021 and while I was in Baltimore for the service I found out I was not eligible for the usual amount funding for school that I have gotten in past semesters. I lost every last job that made up my livelihood in April 2020 due to COVID 19 restrictions and closures and unlike what the media tells you I have not easily been able to get back to work in my particular field because of certain restrictions, mandates etc.

I am a black woman who has worked very hard since I was 15 years old. I grew up in a single parent and low income household. I have used up most of my savings trying to just exist and live day to day for my basics etc. I have always worked while attending school. Currently I need support for supplies, tuition balance and other school related expenses.

I have applied to various scholarships and I will continue to do so however your support would help so much!
