Help Valley Oak Wool Mill's Machines
Donation protected
Hello! Valley Oak Wool Mill has hired a mechanic from the east coast to come make adjustments to our machinery. He will be here during the last week of October and we would be honored if you would consider helping us cover the costs.
Our oldest machine, "Betsy", needs a tune up. She turned 80 years old last year and has some wobbles that will get stabilized. She is our Whitin frame from 1940 which plys the yarn at the mill, a very important step in yarn production!
Our Davis & Furber card from 1953 will also get an adjustment to help us card finer micron fibers. The card is the heartbeat of the mill, without her we could not transform wool from its washed state into a finished product.
The costs we have budgeted will cover the mechanic's air faire and hotel, wages, and any costs of parts and repairs needed during that week.
Our fiber region will benefit by having these machines checked out and maintained to last another lifetime.
Thank you so much for helping us reach this goal, it would be incredible for us to get help from our community.
Thank you,
