Help Our Friend & Colleague, Vanessa Tropeano

On Mother’s Day, May 9th , 2021, our dear friend and colleague, Vanessa Tropeano was doing what she loved most: celebrating being mom to her12 year old son, Matteo, and gardening. She had no idea her life would forever change in an instant. While in her garden at home in Lexington, MA, Vanessa was trying to help her neighbor by pruning some low branches along her neighbor’s fence. She reached over too far and fell from a 8' ladder. What followed is completely unimaginable and terribly hard to process or understand.
Due to the fall Vanessa suffered severe breaks in her heel and ankle bones. These injuries were compounded by an infection that quickly spread to her leg. On
Tuesday May 18th due to the severity of the breaks and the rapidly advancing infection, Vanessa had to have her right leg amputated just below the knee. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to Vanessa, her husband, Brian, and son, Matteo, during this time of struggle and healing.
I am sure I share the opinion of the hundreds of people that have interacted with Vanessa as a colleague, a client, and a friend; Vanessa possesses a rare enthusiasm and passion for gardens and life that is a joy to be around. Her passion for creating beautiful garden spaces is only matched by her dogged determination and straight- forward approach to life that has served her well and everyone she has ever encountered. These instincts will undoubtedly help her as she and her family adapt to a new normal as they navigate the many steps towards her full recovery.
On behalf of Parterre Garden Services, the company where Vanessa has worked for the past 15 years, we have set up this Go Fund Me page to help support Vanessa, Brian, and Matteo as they embark on this new chapter in their lives and to try to help offset some of the dramatic medical costs they will incur during Vanessa’s long road to recovery. She is in for an extensive stay at Mass General Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, prosthetic fitting, physical therapy, as well as significant time out of work. Vanessa and her family will also need to make significant construction changes to their home; their bathroom needs to comply with ADA requirements and a series of railings throughout the home will be installed to assist her with navigating both interior and exterior staircases to prepare for her eventual return home. In addition, there will be significant medical costs not completely covered by Insurance that she is already beginning to incur.
We are doing all we can to rally support for our fallen friend and colleague and to help her make a full recovery and return. On behalf of Vanessa and her family, we thank you for your time and generosity.
Sincerely,
PARTERRE GARDEN SERVICES
