Help Veggies Make Solar-Powered Vegan Burgers!

Donation protected
By the power of plants and the sun!

For over 35 years, Veggies Catering Campaign has been on the front line of vegan outreach, with a network of volunteers all over the UK serving our award-winning Veggies Burgers, supporting many campaigns and speaking out about the benefits of a vegan diet for animals, people and planet.

Environmental concerns have always been at the heart of what we do and now, with your support, we can take Veggies to the next ethical level: solar panels installed our awesome catering campaign trailer to make our plant-based burgers powered by the sun!

** As a special thank you, every donation of £5 will get you one of our famous Veggies burgers at any of Veggies Events  **

A little about us and the solar project

Veggies Catering Campaign is a not-for-profit vegan cooperative that has been supporting good causes since 1984. We call ourselves 'campaign caterers' as we are a volunteer crew of grassroots social change activists who talk to people about the ethics and benefits of a plant-based diet and living a vegan life. Over the years we have catered at hugely diverse events, including (but not limited to): campaign rallies and marches, social change camps, protest events, green gatherings, vegan festivals, local community events, weddings and parties, animal rescue fundraisers, anarchist bookfairs, music gigs, juggling conventions, woodland events, medieval markets and steampunk festivals!

We have always taken huge pride in doing things in a really environmentally sustainable way and consider everything from the green ethics of the products that we sell, to the use of minimal packaging, to recycling and composting back at our base. Now we are keen to evolve our green credentials even further.

In 2020 we were lucky enough to receive an 'Energy for Business' grant, for partial funding towards installing a solar photovoltaic system for our trailer, including lithium battery storage, hybrid inverter and grid connection hardware. This will mean that we wouldn’t have to hook-up to “site power” at events and, for short events, would be able to carry out some of our cooking using solar energy instead of gas, or run some of the cooking demo equipment in our 'Food for a Future' vegan campaign space.

By using a hybrid inverter, when the trailer is not at an event it can be plugged in back at our Nottingham base to supply power to the workshop space  where we make our own burger mix: this will effectively mean that we are making our burger mix with our own solar power in a climate-friendly way, as well as our mix being made from organic ingredients and being noted as an Ethical Consumer Best Buy product.

We now just need to raise a final £1,000 for the costs of the installation. Another great thing about this project is that the installation will be done by our local renewable energy worker co-operative V3 Power , so your donation will be going directly to a fantastic social change enterprise. V3 Power promote DIY sustainable energy technologies through practical education and through building, installing and maintaining sustainable energy systems.

If we are fortunate enough to raise an additional £500 then we will use this to install an electric vehicle charger at our base so that we would be able to transport our burger mix locally in an off-grid way.

Thank you so much for your support and for believing in our campaign work.

Together always for animals, people and the planet <3
