Help Vernon Silva and Family in Their Time of Need

Hi, my name is Jennifer silva.

in april of 2024 my dad Vernon Silva had some swallowing issues so we got him in to the doctors they sent a referral to do an endoscopy after the procedure was done. The doctor came in and said she found a lesion and did a biopsy on it but did say that her suspicions was cancer so we got an oncologist on board on May 31. The oncologist told us that my dad had stage four esophageal carcinoma cancer. They set up a pet scan and the pet scan revealed that it metastasized to his liver so therefore my dad wasn’t a candidate for surgery to remove the lesion in his esophagus the oncologist started an aggressive treatment of immunotherapy for four hours, and then my dad was sent home on a chemo pump for three days this lasted for a few treatments, but the progression of the disease weakened my dad’s body to where he wasn’t able to do treatment anymore on December 11, his treatment team decided it would be best to put my dad on hospice. It has been very rough. If anybody on here is reading this that knows my dad. He’s always been a provider and a manly man and to have his whole life turned around to where he can’t work or provide has been a very hard struggle for him. When we first found out my mom quit her job because she knew after the first treatment she couldn’t leave his side. She had to be there to take care of him. I brought in In home supportive services just so my mom could get some kind of pay it took a month and a half for a case manager to come out and do an assessment for hours never received any kind of paperwork after she left three months down the road my mom was put on my dad‘s case and received time cards reviewing the time cards with my mom We found out they only gave my dad 26 hours a month and they said he only got those hours because they are married so roughly my mom only gets payed for an hour or so there’s no way somebody can survive off of those hours especially when my mom‘s taking care of him 24/7 day and night cause even though my dad does have cancer and it is terminal life still goes on and Bills still happen so please anything helps.
