Update on My Cancer Journey:
In a few days, I’ll be starting my next round of chemo, followed shortly by radiation for my brain. These treatments require a lot of travel, and each round of radiation will last about 10 days. My daughter has graciously taken on all the driving, as my brain lesions have affected my vision, making it unsafe for me to drive. This vision impairment could be permanent, but only time will tell.
I’m still in disbelief over this diagnosis, especially because my symptoms didn’t point to anything this serious. It was only after an emergency room visit on September 27, where a CT scan revealed what was going on.
I’m incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support, whether it's through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this post. Every bit helps, but I also understand that we’re all going through tough times, and even $10 can be hard to spare. Please feel free to share, but I kindly ask for positivity only—no negativity.
Thank you all for your continued strength, prayers, and love.
Hi everyone,
Veronica here. I am sure most of you are aware that on October 1st, my mom was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma in her brain and left lung. This came as a shock to all of us and was the last thing we expected.
Mom was previously experiencing some pain that we attributed to the bulging discs in her neck. However, over the last few weeks, she began having increased pain and disorientation. Then, on September 27th, confusion accompanied by loss of vision and motor skills made me and my dad (Danny) concerned. We drove her straight to Sabine County Hospital where two masses were discovered in her brain with a CT scan. She was transferred immediately to UT Health in Tyler where we have been for the past several days. While here, they discovered 4 cystic masses in her brain and 1 tumor in her lung. The belief is that the mass in her brain is being caused by the larger tumor in her lung. UT Health has begun her chemo treatments, but she will continue chemo in Houston at MD Anderson and start radiation treatment.
As you can imagine, all of this has taken a toll on us emotionally and financially. Anything that anyone can donate or help with in any way would be appreciated. Every little bit helps. Thank you and God bless.
