Help Vickie Lancaster beat Ovarian Cancer

Dear Family, Friends, Community Members, and Strangers,
For those of you who don’t know Vickie Lancaster she is a caring, strong willed, passionate, and easy going woman who loves everyone she meets. Vickie loves children and has been a daycare provider for 35 years. She enjoys things like camping, caring for others, talking on the phone, and of course spending time with her friends, family and fur-family members. Vickie has always been someone to drop everything and help others. If the dictionary needed a picture of selflessness, a picture of her would be provided. Vickie has always helped anyone who needed a place to stay, put food in their bellies, and offered an ear for them to talk. If you were to ask her how many kids she has, she would have a hard time answering. Her willingness to help others is something so pure that we don’t see from many people. She has been a voice of reason and a shoulder to cry on for many, even helping others through their own cancer struggles. It is rare to see her without a smile on her face even in these trying times.
You are reading this today because Vickie Lancaster needs your help. On April 8th Vickie was admitted to the hospital with sudden and intense abdominal bleeding. Later that night, after hours in the ER and vigorous testing she was sent home with medication for temporary relief and no results and advice to follow up with her primary care provider. Several days of worry and what-ifs passed by before the test results came back. Another mass was discovered in her abdomen. As many know, Vickie previously struggled with this affliction and was diagnosed with Stage One Ovarian Cancer in November 2019. After the official diagnosis of ovarian cancer Vickie's doctors immediately sprang into action to set up appointments for surgery. Vickie underwent surgery on December 11, 2019 to have an 8 pound 6 ounce tumor removed along with the removal of both of her ovaries and fallopian tubes followed by bed rest for 4 months. Unfortunately it has been confirmed that the cancer has returned and surgery to remove the new mass is scheduled for April 30, 2021. Between the initial discovery of the mass on April 8th to new scan results from April 26th it has already grown from the size of a golf ball to the size of a Nerf-football. Vickie's doctors have also made the decision that this time around surgery will be followed by chemotherapy. Doctors are predicting that Vickie will need 4-5 weeks to recover after surgery followed by 2-3 months of chemotherapy and recovery from treatment. The exact extent and duration of chemotherapy is unknown and will depend on how the cancer reacts to the treatment.
The first time around Vickie and her family endured the cost of surgery and treatment on their own. In order to assist with the major costs of going through this again, we are asking for any support you are willing to offer while keeping a safe distance. After we informed family and our closest friends people began asking, "How can I help?". We created this GoFundMe as a safe way to collect donations and allow people to express their support. Our starting goal and expected expenses are $20,000. All money raised will go towards medical bills and expenses as well as household bills. This includes the bill for Vickie’s ER visit, surgery, laboratory tests such as blood tests and biopsies, chemotherapy, travel expenses to and from appointments, and whatever else may pop up along the way.
We are beyond thankful for everyone who has reached out, sent meals, and donated. We understand that during these uncertain times things are tough for everyone, so please know that even $5 helps. Every word of motivation, every penny, and every prayer will help us get through this together. Round two of kicking cancer’s butt is in full swing!
