Help the Cobbler Family Avoid Homelessness

Donation protected
Update, The Cobbler family have acquired a nice big camper and could still use help getting it setup. Thank you all for donations.

Meet the Cobbler Family: Carrie, Monica, and Layla, and Chris, who is camera shy! These are my friends from the neighborhood. I met Carrie and Layla about a year ago, and they graciously offered to help me around the house. I am disabled and have a hard time walking. They have been the best helpers, and I have become close with them. It breaks my heart that they are about to become homeless. They have been renting a home for $600 a month for about six years. Recently, their landlord informed them that he was selling the house. This was a complete shock to them. They have been faithful renters, always paying on time. The housing market here in Winston Salem has changed dramatically. You can no longer rent a home here for $600. The current market brings about $1,000 and up for a two-bedroom. We have been searching frantically to find a place they could afford. During this time, Chris, the father, lost his good-paying job and had to settle for less. This has made it very difficult to save for a new home. They have tried to pay the landlord the rent, but he refused it twice. They were taken to court, and the judge has evicted them. He ordered them to pay $1200 plus court cost, I just found out about this. Even after the landlord refused the rent. We are waiting for the sheriff to come any day now and lock them out. They will be faced with staying in an expensive hotel and falling deeper into debt. Please help me keep this from happening. We need to raise the first month's rent and deposit. I have also included a little extra to cover the expenses they will have here for utilities. Unfortunately, our homeless population is growing in Winston Salem. We have a lack of low-income housing and very little support for the homeless. Please, if you have it in your heart, help keep another family from joining the homeless population.

I believe in my heart, we can make this happen. Please join me any amount will help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
