Top Surgery for Victor

Hi,

My name is Victor and I am a transmasc person who is seeking out top surgery. This surgery would hugely alleviate the dysphoria I experience regarding my chest on a day to day basis, which would vastly improve my mental health. This is something I've wanted for a long time, and it would make me ecstatic to finally have this procedure. I am a working-class person, and unforunately I am unable to afford this surgery on my own despite years of saving. This is why I'm asking for your help.

As a transgender person, dysphoria significantly impacts my life in a negative way. My chest feels like a foreign object attached to me which is weighing me down more and more everyday. While I have great support from my loved ones in terms of my mental and emotional health, my dysphoria still has a hugely negative impact on my life. It has become a lot less manageable in the last few years, but only know am I in a position to pursue this life-changing procedure.

Unfortunately, top surgery is not available in Ireland, so I will have to travel abroad for the procedure. I am currently in the process of booking my surgery date with Dr Jésus Lago and team in Madrid, who are well known for having provided an invaluable service to transgender people for various gender affirming surgeries. I will have to travel and stay in Madrid for approximately 2.5 weeks in order to facilitate my surgery and post-operative appointments to ensure best healing.

The cost breakdown for the procedure is as follows (* indicates these are approximate):

Surgery (incl. pre/post op appointments, hospital stay, general anesthesia etc) - 5,900

Flights* - 200

Accommodation* - 1,500

Post-op Binder - 230

Travel Insurance* - 50

Medication / Pain Relief* - 50

Food / Transport* - 300

This all adds up to 8330 , which I've rounded up to 8,500 in order to allow for changes as some of the numbers are approximations, and for transaction fees.

Any money I may receive will go directly towards my surgery, and should I somehow exceed my target, any excess will be donated to other trans people's fundraisers. I will also share updates as I approach different milestones, such as confirming my surgery date, and I plan to run some events in order to raise money too.
