Help Vidya to become a translator

Hi, my name is Debora Leiva, but everybody calls me Vidya. I had the fortune to find the Buddhist path many years ago, and that turned my life upside down for good.

In pursuing a meaningful life, I began to study and practice Buddhism, to be able to share the treasure that saved my own life. It is my dream to become that bridge that could help others to see a brighter shore.

To convey a message, one needs to understand the languages and also, be able to comprehend others’ perspectives. That’s why I abandoned my life in Argentina to study in a Buddhist country, Thailand. I am happy to tell you that I finished my BA in Buddhist Studies with a major in Pāli and Sanskrit Literature and Languages, a huge name for a huge accomplishment.

Now, once again, karma favors me and I have the immense opportunity to continue my studies at a Buddhist University, in the USA.

As Uncle Ben would say to the young Peter Parker, ‘With great power comes great responsibility’, well, with a great aim comes a great obstacle. So here I am, asking for help.

I got a scholarship to study at Dharma Realm Buddhist University, but still, I need to pay 1000 USD, and for the visa and health insurance. And more important, I need to pay for the flight to move there and I am not able to afford it as I am a full-time student living an austere life here in Thailand.

I’m asking for your help, big or small, with the hope that I will continue to acquire the necessary tools to share a message of peace, kindness and compassion. Please, help me to become a translator. I’m so close!
