Help Vietnam Veteran Ken Cook Keep the Lights On
Richmond Veteran Ken Cook finds himself in danger of not only not being able to feed himself or his pets, but also of having his electricity shut off and potential homelessness. Mr. Cook’s story was featured on WTVR Channel 6 with Bill Fitzgerald.
Mr. Cook grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania and learned the value of hard work from a young ageHe went on to serve his country in the military (the photo above is from his deployment to Korea) and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Cook has worked his entire life, and WANTSto work, however he was laid off due to the pandemic and is unable to find a job.
Here is the problem. The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) cut off Mr. Cook’s benefits with no explanation and is currently giving him therunaround. Mr. Cook needs these funds to survive!! The stress of the situation is exacerbating his existing heart problems.
Mr. Cook just wants to work, and to bring awareness to the dire straits that our Veterans often find themselves in. He lost a friend and fellow veteran to suicide after that friend became homeless. Please, we cannot let the same happen to Mr.Cook. Our community needs to take care of our Veterans if the VEC won’t.
ALL FUNDS RAISED will go directly to Mr. Cookto take care of his immediate needs: housing, groceries, pet food, and medical needs.
