Help Villa Mexico Bounce Back

Hi my friends,
Momma King here writing to you. Thank you for visiting this page.

My dears, these are still challenging times for local independent restaurants. If you're familiar with us, you know we're not just any restaurant. For 24 years, we've been serving authentic Mexican food and fostering community bonds without the support of partners or alcohol sales.

Due to the continued effects of the pandemic, our walk-in sales in the Financial District are still far from "normal.' As a result, we closed out 2023 in red numbers for the first time ever. This year is crucial for us to turn things around.

What is coming in for sales is less than what is coming out as expenses, not just in payroll but also in food purchases, rent, and bills. However, we have increased our catering outreach and bookings and ventured into launching our salsa jars as a separate line of business. We are trying and working hard, we just need help to jump the last hurdle and get back to financial stability.

With six months left in 2024, we figured we would try everything to reach our goal of turning things around. If we are successful, we will start 2025 with a new goal: make a profit for the first time since the pandemic.

This would be the third crowdfunding campaign we do in our 20+ years of business. The first was to relocate from Beacon Hill to the Financial District. The second was to survive during COVID while we used website donations to feed first responders and keep our team employed- never closing through the pandemic. This time we will use the funds to:
  • Pay our commercial rent late fees accrued for not being able to pay our rent exactly on the 1st of each month
  • Pay for the new prep deli fridge we needed that broke and cost $4,000
  • Pay our remaining dues to our wonderful ingredients provider, who has placed us on a payment plan
Any additional funds raised will go to our two biggest expenses: rent and wages.

If you can help with anything, it will help. If you can share this effort on social media to raise awareness, it will help. We've come to realize and accept that our communities, our customers, will keep us open, and together we will continue to help each other.

Thank you, my dears. As always, GBUA!
