Help Vincent Bruno Run the NYC Marathon

Goal had been reached, been able to collect money outside of this GoFundMe, and have raised about enough money for what’s needed to run, and It’s official I am Running in this Years Marathon. Hi, my name is Vincent Bruno, and I’m a competitive Marathon runner, currently 20 years old, and I live in Kansas City, MO. I’ve been running marathons for over 2 years now and have reached a good spot physically and mentally. So, when I went to apply for the New York City Marathon, I believed I would get in with flying colors, but I didn’t.

To explain, the cutoff time for my age group was 2:53 or under. My time was 2:37.27. But they told me I was not fast enough for my age group, that I was not in the top 20 percent of my age. However, comparing my times to at least similar weather conditions over the years, not only would I be in the top 20% in my age, but the top 1% of anyone running. When I raised this point to the organizers, they didn’t care and just said they had a lot of people, more than usual, apply this year.

So, I was left to then try and run for a charity, just to find out all their bids have been given out. So now, my last option is to pay NYRR “New York Road Runners” $5K to run this race. So, my goal is to raise that here. I’m not expecting anything, I’ll be lucky if someone donates a dollar, and that’s fine, anything helps. But I want to run this race, not only to say I ran it, but to prove those organizers wrong, that I am fast enough, and that they should look at runners like us in my range differently. It’s unfair to be treated like this and have slower people get invited based on a lottery. But hey, that’s how I feel.
