Help Violet Kick Cancer’s Ass

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Vanessa and I am Shawn’s partner. I am writing this on his behalf.

Shawn’s 16-year-old daughter Violet was admitted to Stanford on Thursday night (10/05/23), as she had spontaneously lost the sensation in her legs due to a giant tumor pressing on her spinal cord. They admitted her for emergency surgery and removed it Friday night (10/06/23) and fused her spine with metal rods.

They separated most of the tumor from around her spine, but there is still a very large mass in her chest and lower abdomen as well as potentially the surrounding area. She is currently recovering from her back surgery at the Stanford Children’s Hospital. As of now, she is able to move her feet and legs somewhat but her ability to walk again is still in question.

They are currently assessing the biopsy of the mass and have determined it is cancer, but as of now we don’t know what kind. As things progress, I will update as much as I am able, but for now we know she will have a long road ahead of her and a lot of obstacles to overcome.

One of those obstacles is her living situation. As of right now, her room is on the second floor of her family home and is not accessible to her in a wheelchair. Adjustments will need to be made to accommodate her so that she can comfortably function at home. Her father is in contact with contractors, plumbers, and carpenters to start the construction of a ground floor room and accessible bathroom for Violet once she returns home. She needs to be comfortable while she undergoes cancer treatment, and under the current circumstances that may not be possible.

The funds from this GoFundMe will go towards building materials for wheelchair accessible accommodations for the house, transportation back and forth to the many doctors appointments she will need to undergo cancer treatment and rehab for her spinal injury, any mobility devices she may need, treatment not directly covered by insurance, as well as meals and clothing for Violet.

Shawn is taking an undetermined amount of time away from his job which is his only income to support his two beautiful children and his sick mother.

Shawn is one of the most giving, loving, honest, and helpful people I have ever met. He is constantly providing for those around him, is a strong leader, and a valuable friend in times of need. He deserves the support and love he so willingly gives out, and there is nothing more important to him than his beautiful daughters. Please consider helping this wonderful man and his beautiful girl in their greatest time of need. Even if you cannot donate, please share and get the word out. Thank you.
