VocaLotus A Cappella is a diverse, all-gender identifying a cappella group at the University of California, Irvine. Our goal is to grow and perform in a collaborative and uplifting singing environment, while creating a close-knit community. We originated as the choir of VSA (Vietnamese Student Association) before becoming our own registered campus organization in the fall of 2020.
On Saturday, February 22nd, we competed at the final West Quarterfinal of the ICCA (International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella). After months of unwavering commitment and tenacity from all of our members, we are incredibly pleased to announce that we were named second place at the quarterfinal, and are advancing to semifinals. We are so thrilled and thankful to Varsity Vocals for this incredible opportunity!
We are now beginning to prepare for said semifinals, which take place on March 22nd in Redwood City, California. And we need YOUR help to get there! All of the funds raised will be directly going towards the living and travel expenses for each of the 19 members. This includes transportation to and from Redwood City, housing, and food. Any funds left over will then be put directly towards expenses for the ICCA finals in New York City if we have the opportunity to advance. If not, the left over funds will be used for various VocaLotus events, which may include equipment and recordings.
Any help is greatly appreciated! If you want to support VocaLotus but are not able to do so monetarily, please consider sharing this with other family and friends that may be interested in donating. We have appreciated all of your support as we have grown throughout the past five years, and we cannot wait for the many opportunities that lie ahead. We hope to see you in Redwood City!
