Help w medically necessary jaw surgery
Donation protected
Today I come to you for help. I am a single mom of 4, working full time, and going to school full time to raise and teach my children that no matter what the situation you can always reach your goals. In 2015 I was diagnosed with Lupus. In 2020 I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Both of which effect my every day life. None the less I persevered, not asking for help and not collecting benefits from the state, continuing to do it on my own. I have had TMJ for years, anyone who knows me has either heard my jaw click when I eat or has never eaten around me because of the self consciousness I experience from those sounds. Well now my TMJ has gotten so bad, that my jaw has started locking for long periods of time. It was diagnosed as Stage 5 (immaculate degeneration) Currently and until I am able to have surgery I can only open my mouth about an inch. I am unable to eat normal food and have resorted to smoothies, protein drinks and apple sauce. My kids needs (including medical) have always come first and always been met, but now I need to put myself first as it is effecting quality of life and I need to be around to continue to put them first. I can’t yawn, talk, chew, sleep, laugh, cough or sneeze without extreme pain. The discs in both side of my jaw have slipped off, the bones are missing 2/3 of what is supposed to be there and are wearing down even more as they are bone on bone. I will need to have injections and fillers, dislocation procedures and orthotics made. This surgery while medically necessary unfortunately is not covered by medical insurance. I need to have these procedures done but they will not begin treatment until I can cover the cost. After the initial parts there is a strong likelihood that I will need to have my jaw completely reconstructed and wired shut. I’m not one to ask for help, but this time I really need people to come through for me as I have for them in years past. Anything will help and I will forever be grateful for your generosity.
