Wade Matthew Barnes, 19, of Cowden, Illinois, a cherished son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away on October 25, 2024, at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.
Born on December 2, 2004, in Effingham, Illinois, to Jason and Brianne (Banning) Barnes. Wade was raised alongside his brothers, Lance and Kraig in the close-knit community of Cowden. His family, the cornerstone of his life, survives him, including his father, Jason; mother, Brianne; brothers, Lance and Kraig; his grandparents, Wilma Barnes of Cowden, Tina (Reynold) Carroll of Beecher City, and David Banning of Mode; great-grandmother, Patsy Thompson of Cowden; aunts, Lindsay (Justin) Richards and Chelsey Banning, both of Cowden; uncle, Mike (Debbie) Barnes of Cowden. Wade’s untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Yet the memories of his infectious smile, his generosity and his unwavering integrity will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends. Wade’s life, though brief, was marked by the love he shared and the lives he touched.
He was a 2023 graduate of Cowden-Herrick High School. Following graduation, he joined the workforce in construction. Wade was a true outdoorsman at heart, a “good ol country boy” who relished the time he spent in nature. His passion for farming was unmistakable, as he found solace and joy being around the cattle, a testament to his deep roots in the agricultural community. Hunting and International tractors were more than hobbies to Wade; they were a reflection of his love for tradition and the simplicity of rural life.
