GAZA journalist Mohammed Arab & Wafaa's family

I’m Amanda, a Brit, and have become close to Palestinian journalist Mohammed Saber Arab and his wife for some time.

Mohammed has been reporting and helping families in the North of Gaza and Wafaa and her family fled to Rafah.

UPDATE 03.07.24: Mohammed was abducted by the occupation on from Shifa Hospital on 18.03.24. Most of Wafaa and Mohammed's family remain in Gaza, with just a few family members able to evacuate earlier this year. They are in need of continued food, water and resources to survive and want to save the majority of funds to fund evacuation should Rafah open again, but more critically to be able to stay home, without the assaults against them and to re-build their lives on their terms.

Wafaa's family has experienced severe devastation. They have lost their homes to airstrikes and have lost THREE children in, as well as many others in the family. In addition there are three family members who require urgent and expensive medical treatment that cannot be obtained or carried out in Gaza. Any excess funds they raise will be used for fees relating to medical treatment, permit and visa fees that would be incurred.

This fundraiser is aimed at raising funds for evacuation for Wafaa and her family members. Mohammed will be remaining in the North carrying out his duties as a reporter and wishes to help families around him to survive this insanity. Wafaa and her brother Bilal shared the following about their family. Please read:

Hello, and thank you for reading. Undoubtedly, you have an idea of what is happening in my country, specifically in the Gaza Strip, 5 months after I was displaced from my home and my dreams were torn down, I am suffering from a lack of supplies and assistance and our basic requirements for me and my family, which we have lost enough.

My brother Mahmoud, his entire family was martyred, including his wife and two children, Anas and Amro.

My brother Ahmed martyred his only daughter name is Mira 5 yeas old .

My father lost his house and all his work in Gaza and his health needed treatment outside Gaza.

My sister Esraa /lost her husband and she and her children were injured by the crazy bombing, all of them lost her husband's family.

And my all sisters lost their homes and became displaced in shelter schools and tents.

Since October 7, we have been suffering from loss, hunger, asylum from a house to house and displacement of all my family. Their homes have been transformed into ruins in front of their eyes. They have become homeless in winter. They are sick and tired. Their children are sick because of the winter cold. And they don't get sick, they're starving, and there's nothing to eat, they're eating animal feed. Then we were displaced and each of my sisters became somewhere, and at any time we could hear news that one of them had lost contact and we often could not communicate with each other because of the frequent bombing.

Thank you sincerely and I hope you know that all the money you donate will have a decisive impact on providing my family with an opportunity to re-establish their lives, any surplus will go towards legal fees and treatment for more family members and the opportunity for temporary residence in another country.

اختي إسراء / فقدت زوجها واصيبت هية وأطفالها بسبب القصف الجنوني ، فقدت عائلة زوجها جميعهم .

خواتي جميعهم فقدو بيوتهم واصبحو نازحين في مدارس الايواء والخيام .

منذ 7 اكتوبر ونحن نعاني من الضياع والجوع واللجوء من بيت لبيت وتشريد عائلتي جميعهم وتحولت منازلهم لانقاض امام اعينهم واصبحو بلا مأوى في الشتاء واصابهم المرض والتعب واطفالهم مرضى بس برودة الشتاء ولا يوجد مستشفيات تستطيع ان تعالج لكثرة عدد الاصابات والشهداء الي تمتلئ بها ، ولم يسلمو من المرض اصبحو يتضورون جوعا ولا يوجد ما يأكلوه اصبحو يأكلو علف الحيوانات . ثم بعدها تشردنا واصبح كل عائلة من خواتي في مكان ، وفي اي وقت ممكن ان نسمع خبر فقد احد منهم وغالبا ما تنقطع الاتصالات ولا نستطيع التواصل مع بعضنا بسبب كثرة القصف ، ف كان على اخواتي السير لاميال في منطقة الحرب لالتقاط اشارة لنتواصل مع بعضنا والاطمئنان .

اختي نجلاء / فقدت بيتها الجديد كانت قد سكنت به حديثا ولم تكمل تسديد مصاريف البيت واصبحت بلا مأوى ولديها طفلة صغيرة لم تتجاوز ال 4 سنين ، كانت قد انجبتها بعد 4 سنين من زواجهاعن طريق عملية زراعة بسبب صعوبة في الانجاب .

اصيب زوجها في الحرب اصابة بليغة في راسه ادت الى تكسر في الفك وتكسر اسنانه وويحتاج الى علاج خارج غزة وجروح في جسمه ، لكن السفر خارج غزة يحتاج مبلغ كبير جدا لا استطيع توفيره بسبب الحرب بعدما فقدت كل ما تملك .. يحتاج تقريبا مبلغ 15 الف دولار لكي يخرجوا من غزة ، ومصاريف علاجه تحتاج 20 الف دولار في القاهرة .

ابنتها ايضا مريضة وتحتاج علاج ونقص في الدواء شخصت قبل الحرب بمرض التشنج الحراري ويجب ان تستمر بعلاج لمدة 3 سنين ، وفي الحرب لم يتوفر الدواء الذي كانت تاخذه .

اشكرك بصدق وآمل أن تعرف أن جميع الأموال التي تتبرع بها سيكون لها تأثير حاسم على تزويد عائلتي بفرصة لإعادة تأسيس حياتهم ، سيذهب أي فائض نحو الرسوم القانونية والعلاج لمزيد من أفراد الأسرة وفرصة الإقامة المؤقتة في بلد آخر .
