Help Wags’ Family’s Financial Future

I’m sending the call out to all who know and love one of the most loving and giving people we have all known.

 

Our mate Mark “Wags” Waghorne is a legend of our industry. In Victorian Craft Beer circles he is royalty. In his local community of friends and family, he is a giant.

 

But cancer doesn’t care about the equity you have gained - not only in your work life but also your personal life.

 

Wags was husband to Nicky, and father to 3 boys: Jasper, Leroy and Banjo (+ a cat and a dog)

 

He had been fighting cancer with an almighty and inspirational spirit for right on 2 years. He won a bunch of rounds, lost a couple - and only last week he sadly left us.

 

He had the best of treatment from the amazing team at Peter Mac Hospital and had bravely continued to work through and continually be there for his team during this time for his beloved Moon Dog Brewery, in his role as Sales Director. And because of the last 2 years being during Covid times, he had to juggle times away from his family being so immunocompromised.

 

If you are still reading this - hopefully you care enough to help.

 

Wags was a very humble human and would never ask for help, but as a fellow husband and father, I can’t help but wonder what we, as his friends, family and our mighty beer community, can do to give him a little peace of mind up in heaven for his family’s future.

 

Your contribution might not be able to have cured his cancer but it will help Wags’ wife Nicky know her family’s financial situation might be made easier, and take away some stress in this difficult time and those that lay ahead.

 

They had plans in the works to renovate their humble home to accommodate 3 growing boys. Also their eldest 2 boys Jasper and Leroy are both attending Catholic Boys high school, and their youngest Banjo in Catholic primary. School fees, transport, books and uniforms play a massive financial part in them staying with their friendship group and retain some normality for the foreseeable future. Not to mention their sporting pursuits of football, basketball and lifesaving - groups that Wags was and Nicky is an active part in.

 

All money (other than transaction fees) will go to Nicky and the Boys. This fundraiser has the blessing of Wags and Nicky - he wanted to do what could be done to help his family.
