Help Waukon SDA Church Secure Property For Parking

Hello, Brothers and Sisters! We are the Waukon Seventh-Day Adventist Church, founded in 1855 by early Adventist Pioneers as the first SDA church west of the Mississippi. We are in need of parking that is off the street in front of the church. The Lord has provided us with an opportunity to enable growth and outreach through the purchase of the property next door which we plan to use for this parking. The owner of this property wants to sell it rather than invest in renovations of the existing home and has offered it to us first!

We would like to purchase the property for the purpose of building a parking lot so church members and visitors no longer have to park on the neighborhood street, where space is very limited. With the added parking space this would increase the church’s ability to host community meetings or outreach events.

The funds will be used to purchase the land, as well as remove the existing dilapidated home. This process will require asbestos removal and filling in the basement so parking is safe.

The goal is to raise a total of $55,000 in three increments, with the first being the most urgent:

1. Raise $17,500 by about Sept. 7th to secure a loan from the conference to complete the purchase of the property. The owner has graciously offered the property to the church at a very good price but only for a short time.

2. Raise $20,000 for removal of the existing structure (including asbestos abatement) and fill in the basement.

3. Continue fund raising for a grand total of $55,000, to pay off the loan as quickly as possible.

It is pointed out in her story that she received a vision that the Adventists at the Waukon church needed help. Our church is in need of help once again - your help, by God’s grace. Our membership has dwindled over the years as people have moved away or gone to their rest.

Time is so short! We want to spread the Gospel as we are commissioned and bring people into the truth so they can join God’s Remnant movement. This little church has been a light in the community for almost 170 years. Help us keep it shining more and more until the day of His return.
