Help Waylon Get To The Dentist

Hello, my name is Mikayla and I am Waylon’s mother. Waylon is 3 years old and was born with a rare genetic disorder that wasn’t passed down from us parents and only 500 people have worldwide. That disorder unfortunately brings many other health struggles to the table for him. In Waylon’s short 3 years of life so far he has been diagnosed with over 23 medical diagnoses, had numerous surgeries & procedures, and many hospital admissions. Waylon is also tube fed 24 hours a day by GJ tube. In January of 2021 we welcomed his little sister Westlynn into this world who also has her own health struggles. Westlynn spent 3 months in the Milwaukee Children’s NICU due to Bilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis. During her time at the NICU she received a tracheostomy and a Gtube due to the paralysis of her vocal cords. Once we brought her home we were left with no other option but to have Lucas (their father) stay home to be the 2nd caregiver. The hospital requires there to be 2 caregivers and without in home nursing being present in the area, there is no one else to utilize. As you can only imagine that had turned our lives upside down in many ways, one of those ways being financially.
Lucas had a full time job which he loved before having to take medical leave for our daughter. He always has been a hardworking man so I could stay home with our children. So being in need of money and having to ask for support from others financially isn’t something we want to do.. but we would never ask if it weren’t needed.
Last Friday (06/03) Waylon woke up with a fever and a very swollen face due to a tooth abscess. I immediately rushed him to the local ER for antibiotics because that’s our only option to help him. I have searched and searched for a dentist for the last 2 years for him and have been turned away. In our area (upper Michigan) Waylon is considered “too medically complex” to many providers and they won’t see him. Unfortunately this is exactly the problem I have ran into with the dentists in the area, so we are left with only 2 options in which we can’t afford. I found one dentist in our area who is comfortable doing his dental work, but insurance will not cover the cost.. So our only other option is to travel to downstate Michigan hours and hours away just to get the dental work covered by insurance.
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with our 3rd child so traveling that far isn’t possible for us financially especially, as there are things we still need for this child. Lucas and I have very little to no support and we do the absolute best that we can with the circumstances given. Asking for money isn’t what we want to have to do, but the lack of resources for special needs families is out of our control..
Any donations are greatly appreciated❤️ If you have further questions please contact me!
