Help Wayne Burgess after his Exoneration
Donation protected
Wayne Burgess spent almost 25 years in a Tennessee prison
for a crime he did not commit. After decades of fighting for his
freedom, and the truth, Wayne Burgess is a free man. A Court
heard Wayne's case, and overturned the murder conviction,
finding that, "new scientific evidence proves that it is not
medically possible that he committed the crime for which he
was convicted". Wayne was declared factually innocent, and he
walked out of prison. All the charges are now dropped.
My name is Lane Shuler, and I'm on the Board of Directors for
the Tennessee Innocence Project. The Tennessee Innocence
Project and Bass Berry & Sims represented Wayne in his fight
to achieve his exoneration.
Wayne is now reunited with his family, and living with his son,
who he had not seen in many years. Wayne, an incredibly
spiritual man, delivered the sermon at his childhood church in
Bodenham, Tennessee this past Sunday.
Much was taken from Wayne Burgess. He missed the chance
to see his son grow up. He lost decades in the prime of his life.
Add to that, the fact that fighting a wrongful conviction is time
consuming and expensive. Wayne is free, but he faces real
financial challenges and significant health concerns. We can
make a difference and help a good man rebuild his life.
Please consider helping Wayne in whatever way you can and
share this fundraiser to spread the word.
