Help Wayne Play Hockey In Europe
Donation protected
We just found out yesterday about Wayne Decoine, who is an amazing 16 year old Indigenous hockey player who lives in Wabasca-Desmarais in northern Alberta. Wayne is the oldest of five being raised by his grandmother Verna. Wayne found out a few weeks ago that he has been selected to play in the largest premier AAA hockey tournament in Finland. His family and entire community have been doing everything they can to raise enough money for Wayne (and another grandmother who is his chaperone) to attend but they are $5,146 short, which is the cost of the return flights from Europe. Wanting her grandson to have this once in a lifetime chance, with no time left and based on faith, Wayne will catch his first flight ever and head to Europe on Saturday, July 29, and Verna is staying behind to raise the money to pay for the flights home.
Wayne will spend 8 days, landing in Stockholm, Sweden for an exhibition game and then travel to Helsinki, Finland for the tournament. He will be able to play exceptional hockey as well as some planned excursions in Europe. We know the potential this opportunity has to change his life and how seldom these opportunities come along.
We are personally donating to help and are reaching out to see if anyone else would like to join us. We are in contact with Verna and Wayne and want everyone to know how much they appreciate any support you can give! Please share!
