Maintain the Hollies for our community

Donation protected

The Hollies, High Street, Musselburgh, was opened to Musselburgh & surrounding areas back in 1962. It is an old building, used over many years for various functions. We are here to help prevent loneliness and isolation in our community. In particular, Senior Community members, who are more vulnerable than others. This could be Mums, dads, grannies, aunts & uncles, who have grown up families and sometimes don't know what to do with themselves with all this time now on their hands. Here at the Hollies, we offer a lunch club in a friendly, cosy area, with fresh food cooked daily by our chefs. These lunches allows our lunch club members to meet others in a warm, safe, friendly environment and enjoy good food and chat. Our lunch club runs 5 days per week. We also have a minibus to collect those from surrounding areas who cannot make their own way into our lunch club and return them safely back home later. We have a ladies hairdressing salon for ladies 50+ to come have their hair done whilst having a chat to our friendly hairdressers Irene & Jean. We also run a cafe for the local community, freshly cooked, reasonably price food, (3 course meal costs just £10). Home made soup daily, along with scones, jam & butter, something to cater for every palate. A whole day could be spent in our building by meeting a friend for a coffee and chat, off to the hairdresser to have hair done, then back down for lunch which could be a choice from our menu or 3 course lunch, whatever is required. We are here to cater for our community and all are welcome to the Hollies. Unfortunately, our building is old and in need of some expensive repairs. As we have no sources of regular funding, we spend much time applying to funders, some successful, others unsuccessful. We need to raise funds for roofing problems and other maintenance & repairs of our building. Our only regular income is from our cafe, lunch club and hairdressers. We are not sure how long we can continue with our current problems and hope you can help us maintain our services to our wide selection of customers and local communities. All help would be gratefully received.
