Help We Rock the Spectrum Recover From Devastating Flooding

Donation protected
The only sensory gym in Greater Boston open to the public for kids with autism and for all abilities was unexpectedly flooded during Feb break, when kids needed a place to go, and what should have been a busy time for them. They have a large collection of sensory swings, a calming room, and a highly popular toddler area. It is a special place for kids with autism and kids who are “neurotypical,” as well!

But a neighboring business had a pipe burst on an especially cold night in February, which caused devastating flooding to We Rock the Spectrum, and now they’re not sure when they might be able to reopen.

This certified women-and-minority-owned small business (both mom owners have sons with special needs) has already faced many challenges… most recently, an after-school respite program for kids with autism at WRTS had funding challenges leading to the program having to cut back on the number of after school days it offers. Now the gym isn’t open at all, so families may have to scramble for after school child care.

As a mom of a son with autism and a daughter who doesn’t have autism but who cherishes our regular trips to WRTS, we are looking to give back to the owners by helping them get back on their feet quickly. The process of filing for an insurance claim and getting reimbursed can be arduous and uncertain. Let’s show these moms — who have done so much for the community — that the community loves them back and help them re-open their doors quickly! Thank you for your consideration.
