Help Wendy in her fight against breast cancer
Donation protected
Hello, our names are Reneé Toney and Christalle Dalsted and we set up this fundraiser for our dear friend and soul sister Wendy. She continues to need your help entering her 2nd year of treatment.
On December 27th, 2023, Wendy was notified that they found a mass on her mammogram and that she needed to go in for more imaging. Things moved very quickly after that. Within the next 2 weeks she received the official diagnosis of invasive ductal Her2+. It has been a wild ride ever since!
In this past year she elected to be part of a clinical trial looking a new type of drug to treat breast cancer. When that didn’t work she was moved to classic chemotherapy. Overall she completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy which was harder than she could have ever imagined.
She continued to work full time with a positive attitude. Being Her2+, she has to complete a year of Herceptin and Perjeta and has more rounds to go and will hopefully be done by the summer!
In July she underwent her first surgery and was so pleased to learn that all of the cancer was gone! She is undergoing phased surgery and on 2/10/25 will complete a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. It will be a major surgery and will need 6 weeks off of work and short-term disability does not cover her entire paycheck. There will likely be one more surgery after the mastectomy. As a result of this more complicated surgery Wendy will need to take time off to recover, plus there are the ongoing co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket expenses that will need to be covered.
We are asking again from the bottom of our hearts for your donation to help Wendy during this time. We understand that you may not be able to give, but if you can please share her story that would also be very much appreciated! She is so grateful for those of you who have already donated.
This experience has been extremely challenging for Wendy. We know that her story is helping so many people and we are so thrilled that soon she can put this ordeal behind her and emerge back into her life as the most strong and powerful version of herself that she’s ever known.
We will continue to post updates as she goes through the treatment process!
Thank you!!
Love,
Reneé & Christalle
A note from Wendy
There are days I don’t feel I’m worthy of it. But whether it’s financial help, texts asking how I’m doing, helping me with my yard, or making me food, I couldn’t have done it without everyone.
