Wendy Peeters & Sage

Dear Friends of Wendy & Sage,
Thank you for taking the time to visit this Go-Fund-Me page for Wendy Peeters and her little dog, Sage.
Many of you have met Sage, the gorgeous fawn-sable coloured bully boy, with a spicy attitude, a zest for living, and the effortless ability to snuggle his way into your heart. Sage is at the prime of his life, only 6 years young, a feisty little fire cracker, extremely athletic, a very well care for pup, with some recent, really bad luck.

In November he started to limp; he was favouring his right hind leg, Given how active Sage is, Wendy assumed he had pulled a muscle. She treated him with rest and short leash walks. When his limp didn’t improve she took him into the Vet. The Vet said the x-rays were troubling, revealing areas of bone in his leg that were thinning. They referred Wendy to the Canada West Veterinarian Specialists, and in the first week of December she received the news no pet owner wants to hear: “Sage likely has cancer”. Wendy was gutted.
Sage is now under the care of the best Veterinarian Specialists in BC (and that kind of care doesn’t come cheap). So far, he has had Veterinarian visits, Specialist consultations, x-rays, ultrasounds, blood work, sedation, minor surgery (biopsy), post-surgical kennelling, pain medications, antibiotics, pathology (awaiting results). And this is only the beginning.

The ultrasound results looked good and the Veterinarian Specialist is hopeful that the cancer hasn’t spread. We are awaiting the pathology results to find out what type cancer Sage has, and his prognosis. Sage is a good candidate for amputation, but that is a difficult and costly surgery.
Still, we have to wait to see what the pathology result will be. The bill so far is over $3600, and with an upcoming MRI, the costs are mounting. With the possibility of chemotherapy, and amputation, the bills are likely to climb to more than $10,000.
Very soon Wendy will be making some tough decisions. With your help, your donations and financial support, your comments and your love, we are hopeful that Wendy and Sage will make it though this.
Stay tuned for updates.
Please help save Sage!
Thank you,
Sandra
