Help! We’re Stranded And At Risk Of Losing Everything
Donation protected
Hi, we’re Déja and Amber and our family is stuck
Just before Christmas, we had to leave an extremely problematic housing situation before we could find another place to live. We had to leave everything we own (both personal and business-related) behind.
Not only did we become homeless, but we lost all of our tools, supplies, and products that we need for our business. In other words, we also lost our jobs and livelihood.
Through a friend of a friend, we were able to find a place to stay, but it has been an extremely strenuous ordeal, especially for our children and our pets, and sadly two of our cats did not survive it. We are currently living in a vacation rental during the off-season, and this place was *not* intended for people to stay more than a few days at a time.
Thanks to the generous donations we've already received here, we were able to have our belongings moved into storage, and have been able to make ends meet in this temporary home for the last couple months. However, everything we need for our business is still up in storage, and the waves of chargebacks and cancellations because we can't ship the orders that were in progress have ripped away a large portion of the donations from us.
We just want to get back to work.
The good news is that we've found a new apartment and we're in the process of making the deposits and signing the lease, but we still don't have anywhere near enough to be able to bring our belongings and our business down to our new home.
The freight company that's holding our belongings will be coming down to near where we are to pick up another delivery in late March, so if we're able to come up with the money in time, we may be able to get a significant discount, however we haven't received the quote yet.
We've changed the goal to reflect our best guess at how much we will need to come up with within the next few weeks in order to give the freight company a green light to deliver our stuff.
Now, while we've been cut off from our normal work, we haven't been sitting idle. Since we can't make our stationery, we've been working on two new digital-only projects. The first one (Corvo Cattivo GPSR Services) launched just before this whole ordeal hit a breaking point, and the second one (Beyond the Barrows) is getting close to being ready to share with the public.
Thank you for reading this far. We hope that even if you are not able to donate directly, perhaps you can share our story and check out one or both of our projects.
