Help Weston’s recovery from MRSA lung infection
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Hailey Neel, or mom of Weston. West is 7 year’s old with a diagnosis of epilepsy. He has the biggest heart and adores police officers, animals and paw patrol. He is the best big brother to sister bear.
On May 5th he was taken to the ER for low oxygen and shortness of breath. It was quickly discovered he had pneumonia, within the matter of hours his chest x ray worsened. He was placed on antibiotics and oxygen for a few days.
On May 9th he was intubated and placed on a vent. The cultures came back as a MRSA infection along with 2 other bacteria in his lungs that they believe was starting to spread all over his body. He was on the vent for over 2 weeks and the outcome was very unpredictable during this time. The antibiotics and lung treatments were given around the clock.
He has since come off the vent but is still requiring a lot of respiratory support. This hospital stay will be very lengthy. Once he is off oxygen he will be moved to the rehabilitation unit and go through very extensive therapy. It is a miracle that he was able to pull through and fight these infection.
We have received so much love, support and help from our families. I am currently on leave from my job and will be for the remainder of the hospital stay (however long that may be). Any money raised will be used for transportation, food, loss of wages and any medical equipment needed for discharge.
If you are unable to donate, we totally understand. Prayers are needed more than anything and please help us spread the word.
