The Backstory and Cause
Please help Westside Improv Studio survive closure due to COVID-19. We are a small business that provides opportunities for people in the western suburbs to learn, perform, and watch long form improv. Long form improv is a group effort, involving several actors working together on a team to spontaneously create stories in real-time.
In 2019, owner Jeff Ash purchased additional theater space to meet the needs of Westside's growing community. The original plan was to continue using the existing, smaller, space until we could fulfill all of the renovation requirements from the city for the new space. However, in August 2020, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of the current space in the hopes that we can afford to reopen exclusively in our new, larger space.
We are currently closed due to having no usable performance space, which means closed income streams for rent, utilities, etc. This GoFundMe page aims to preserve the viability of our space until we can complete the city's renovation requirements. Every dollar that we raise beyond covering our basic expenses will go towards the renovation of our new, unfinished space.
We appreciate any donation amount. We are deeply grateful for your financial support.
Please note: Westside Improv Studio is not a 501(c)(3) and therefore these donations are considered "personal gifts" and are not tax-deductible. Also note that your donation is not a purchase of equity in the theater.
Spread the work about our cause. Share this GoFundMe link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social media platform you use.
We are deeply grateful for your support. Please continue to share Westside's cause. Thank you for supporting small businesses. #SmallBusinessRelief
