Help Westwood Basketball Fund A Shooting Machine
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Cory Rickert. I am the Varsity Basketball Coach of the Westwood Lumberjacks. I graduated from Westwood in the year 2000 and have never forgotten the powerful and positive impact the athletic program had on me, especially basketball with Coach Phil Bryant.
I am currently three coaching years into a long term goal of reciprocating the life changing benefits I received from school staff and coaches of Westwood High School. Westwood High School is a small school in Northern California with a rich history of being very competitive in its sports programs. We hope to continue this trend with the help of some modern basketball training equipment.
There are motorized machines that catch/rebound players shots (both makes and misses) with a large net that then funnels basketballs down into a mechanized ball launcher. The launcher passes balls to players in a rapid manner if desired providing the potential up to 1800 shots an hour.
The shooting machine we are pursuing is called the Gun 12K from a company named Shoot-A-Way. The Gun 12K acts as a perfect and tireless passer and rebounder. It can automatically rotate up to 180 degrees to make passes to players anywhere in the half court. Also I believe that the shooting machine will enable a nice fusion of technology and sport for the modern tech savvy kids. The machine connects wirelessly to smartphones and other devices which through an app keeps track of shot attempts, makes, misses, shot location etc.
We at Westwood High School are very grateful for your donation. We hope to have the funds as soon as possible so we can train with the Gun 12K thoroughly before the upcoming basketball season. Thank you for your support in keeping the Westwood Basketball program current with the times and strong!
P.S. I'm hoping to hear from Westwood Alumni about their positive experiences at WHS.
You can share your stories/memories in the comments section. Maybe your coach was Jeff Miller, Tami Alexander, Nancy Barrera, Randy Church, John Foy, Fred Binswanger, or Brian Johnson. I'm sure there others, please let me know who I missed and I will add them! : ).
If you have no affiliation with Westwood High School and have stumbled upon this campaign please feel free to join in and share the positive stories/memories from your time in school sports.
