Our Story
Friends, Camp Pico Blanco is situated in the beautiful old growth costal redwood forest of the Calif. Big Sur, Vantana Wilderness area. Our goal is to make an impact on the options available for the outdoor experiences of all youth, including Scouting youth. Please help preserve the amazing wilderness property for generations to come.
White Stag Monterey has accepted the sole responsibility of paying the debt on the Pico purchase, and we have a very short deadline to raise the funds.
Camp Pico Blanco has always been a special place for White Stag. The White Stag Program ran its first Summer training program there in 1958, and each subsequent summer program for the next 20 years. When the opportunity came up to purchase the wonderful property White Stag had no choice but to try and secure it.
About the Purchase of Camp Pico Blanco
The White Stag program was founded at Pico Blanco Scout Reservation in 1958 by Bela Banathy. Over the years, the White Stag program became deeply intertwined with the camp. In the Fall of 2021, Pico Blanco went up for sale. To financially manage the purchase, White Stag originally had two partners. That partnership was not fully realized and now White Stag must manage the full debt alone. The purchase agreement allows the Scouting Program access and use of the core camp into perpetuity.
